Thanksgiving Point, near Salt Lake City in northern Utah, is offering a couple classes on how to build and use greenhouses.

SOLAR GREENHOUSE CONSTRUCTION
Take advantage of the sun to heat your greenhouse. Extend your outdoor garden or become more self-reliant! Course topics include choosing a site, energy conservation, low-cost construction techniques, heating, cooling, glazing, hot beds and cold frames. Two sessions are offered on Jan 17, 2012. The first runs from 2 pm through 4:30 pm. The second runs from 6 pm through 8:30 pm. This is the only time of the year that this class is held.

GROWING PLANTS IN THE GREENHOUSE
Growing your own plants from seeds or from cuttings can be a rewarding hobby. Learn about fertilizers, growing mixes, seed varieties, and transplanting, as well as insects, disease and other environmental problems in your greenhouse. Two sessions will be offered on Feb 7, 2012. One begins at 10 am and runs through Noon. The other runs 5-7 pm.
